Ducati Scrambler Owner Celebrates First Year with Special Team Ducati and Team-BHP Event

BHPian Waspune recently shared this with other enthusiasts: First Birthday Saga I didn’t do a ‘Happy Birthday’ post because I was working on getting the perfect birthday present. A couple of weeks ago, while I was battling the usual Monday blues in the office, I got a surprise call from the GM of Legacy Motors (Ducati Pune dealership). He said he had come across my Team-BHP post and was thrilled to see how much I love riding the Scrambler. Then he asked if he could do something for me! I was pleasantly surprised and told him all was well, and yes-I absolutely love riding my Scrambler. He asked again if there was anything he could do. I mentioned I’d been toying with the idea of upgrading the exhaust, but my wallet needed a bit more time to prepare for that kind of hit. He said he’d see what he could do and try to get me a sweet deal. That already made my day.Hail Team-BHP and Legacy Ducati! Fast forward to the birthday – 28th July: He got back to me with two Termignoni exhaust options and asked me to choose-Slip-on (low-mounted) or Full system (high-mounted, running parallel to the seat). He also gently reminded me of the wallet-shattering MRP for both. I chose the slip-on. An hour later, he called with a sweet offer indeed, something that I simply couldn’t resist. I discussed it with the wifey, and she, too, was happy that Ducati was offering such a deal. She said, “If you really want it, go ahead!” So just before the birthday ended, I called him back and confirmed the offer As I type this, Legacy Pune has sourced the Termi Race Slip-On exhaust from another Ducati dealer in India who had it in stock (which was awesome; otherwise would have had to wait for almost a month for it to get sourced from Italy). First impressions coming up in a future post! 1-Year Experience in a nutshell: I’ve had an amazing time with the Scrambler Ducati and loved every bit of those 6700 km. It’s a bike that keeps me engaged even when I’m not riding it. It makes me look for excuses to take it out. It’s not a power or torque Monster (literally and figuratively), but it’s a visceral experience, and it’s beautifully tuned, which lets me enjoy most of its performance most times. The power and torque delivery are spot-on for everyday use, especially for someone with my skill level. Even then, it’s not easy to max it out-especially in the top 3 gears, given our road and traffic conditions. You could even call it a classic hooligan! It’s retro, but it revs surprisingly quickly for an old-school air-cooled engine. The suspension offers decent travel, and the ground clearance is healthy. Yes, it might not be a Scrambler in the truest sense, but it tackles our road conditions with aplomb. The maintenance costs are on the higher side, and sometimes it takes a while to digest. But it’s such an emotive and soulful ride that it more than makes up for it. Park it anywhere, and it doesn’t scream for attention. It just quietly owns the space, like a confident outsider with a story to tell. Signing off with some recent ride pics: Check out BHPian comments for more insights and information.
