Chinese collaborative robotics company DOBOT Robotics has launched its Malaysian subsidiary, marking a strategic move to deepen its footprint in Southeast Asia’s fast-evolving smart manufacturing sector.

“We are excited to celebrate the opening of DOBOT Malaysia,” said Junjie Xie, co-founder of DOBOT. “This expansion underscores our dedication to bringing innovative robotics solutions and supporting Malaysia’s Industry 4.0 transformation.”

Malaysia, a regional hub for electronics and advanced manufacturing, offers fertile ground for collaborative robotics. DOBOT aims to capitalise on this by delivering precision automation technologies for tasks such as electronics assembly, welding, and quality inspection.

The company outlined four strategic pillars for its Malaysian operations:

  • Smart Manufacturing Enablement: Customised automation solutions to enhance efficiency and global competitiveness.
  • Industry-Education Integration: Partnerships with universities and vocational institutions to develop future-ready talent.
  • Localised Services: A responsive support network offering technical assistance, training, and after-sales services.
  • Innovation Ecosystem Development: Collaborations with system integrators and manufacturers to foster end-to-end automation.

DOBOT has shipped over 80,000 units globally and serves more than 80 Fortune 500 companies and 6,000 educational institutions. The firm’s expansion into Malaysia follows its recent product launch in Nagoya, Japan, where it unveiled next-generation collaborative robots.

The move is expected to strengthen Malaysia’s position in the regional automation landscape and support its transition toward high-value, tech-driven manufacturing. DOBOT did not disclose investment figures or revenue targets for the Malaysian subsidiary.

The company’s global strategy aligns with broader trends in Southeast Asia, where governments and industries are increasingly investing in automation to boost productivity and resilience.
